A good understanding of what you do as a valid service is an uncommon achievement. Having an understanding of it is more than having the knowledge of it. The work you do seems ordinary to you sometimes because the majority do not clap you. You fail to decode the environment that you are in. You probably do not realize that being in the majority does not mean being right, and being in the minority does not mean being wrong.
The only important thing is the treasure that you work at and seek to bring to the seen from the unseen. When this is achieved, you have achieved purpose. And this is the result of daily steps taken deliberately.
You have to put your best into the work you do. It's both your living legacy and the one you leave behind. After you have put your very being into that project and a part of you connects with it in such a way that you cannot but see yourself in the delivery, you must celebrate it as a win, as an accomplishment and as an authentic piece, whatever the sort or type it is.
It could be words put together, yes, your content, dug out through imagination, introspection and inspiration. It could lead to a physical product; it could be just about anything. One thing you must do is to be thankful for birthing your creativity. It is who you are.
Words brought everything into being from nothing. Words are thoughts uttered. Great thoughts crafted into right words and acted upon live forever and affect generations. They outlive their human source and affect the affairs of people beyond even the imaginations of their sources. Weigh your motives and craft them into your delivery. It's your work. You shall be evaluated for same.
Your work is your delivery. Anyone who uses perception, connects same with reasoning and activates other mental faculties, knows that what they have produced is a masterpiece. It is their masterpiece. If that is you, do cherish it for what it is--your delivery earned through intensity of labour.
Now, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. It doesn't matter if they never constructed anything while offering constructive criticism; it doesn't matter if they are only critiquing. It does matter that you have put it out there. And that, is the only thing that truly matters.
You can always improve on what you have done; and improvement can only happen because there's something to be improved on. If you had not delivered a previous, or former, there can be no latter. That's what it means to have an upgrade. But do you see that work that you just put together? You brought it out of you. You committed to begin. And you persisted continously to finish it and bring it alive. That becomes a point of reference.
Cherish your productivity. Cherish your authentic accomplishments. Cherish every moment of it. Cherish the inspiration. Cherish the process. Celebrate the small wins. They are not earned in isolation. They are a part of the whole. Everything ties together. Your work is a contribution to the entire machine that works the entire universe. This much you have to understand, more than just knowing.
Your work is you. It is your imprint. It is your signature. Through it, those who never met you meet with you; and can tell from it who you are. Celebrate your work. It is an expression of your being.
